Stats that are hard to digest.

The Guttmacher Institute and CDC have provided data indicating that since Roe v. Wade in 1973, there have been approximately 63 million abortions in the United States, including more than a million in 2023.

It’s estimated that Planned Parenthood typically performs about 30–40% of all abortions in the U.S. each year. The company generates over $2 billion in revenue, most from affiliates including $750 million from private contributions, and has more than $2.5 billion in assets.

This one is tough.

As a dad, it’s hard to imagine NOT having my child. The joy that they bring my life is amazing. As a young man, a girlfriend (16 years before my wife) got pregnant with a child that ended up NOT being mine and she really struggled with the decision. Hearing about anyone that gets pregnant because of rape is another difficult piece of news to digest.

I have zero argument with the pro-choice statement on child care or well being of women. I also see the point of helping the youth more and how laws made it disproportionately hard on inner city black men who families depended upon because raising a child as a single person has to be one of the hardest things a person can do.

That all being said, these stats still make me sick. One part of me equally wonders if there were an additional 63 million people here in the United States how many would be major contributors versus how many would be in prison versus how many would be living basic lives. From an economic standpoint, how much additional GDP would the additional 18% population have meant to our society.

At the same time, globally there are roughly 73 million abortions performed each year. So…. 1.3% of the worldwide rate is not really alarming from a data analysis standpoint.

Again, these are tough on my mind.
There’s nothing more to it.
